Dental treatment in Shanghai
The Same Implants. The Same Standards.About One-Fifth the Price.
Six core dental treatments, carried out by specialists at accredited Shanghai hospitals. We handle the hospital matching, appointments, interpreting and the entire trip around it.
WHAT WE COORDINATE
Six Dental Treatments
These are the six treatments we coordinate at accredited Shanghai hospitals. Treatment itself is quoted by the treating hospital once they have reviewed your case and paid directly to them — the only figures we publish are our own coordination fees, in the packages further down.
01Most requestedDental Implants
Titanium implant, abutment and all-ceramic crown, placed with 3D-guided planning. International brands such as Straumann, Nobel Biocare and Osstem are all available.
02Ceramic Crowns
Full zirconia or e.max crowns milled in-house from a digital scan. No impression putty, and in many cases fitted within the same week you arrive.
03Ceramic Veneers & Whitening
Minimal-preparation porcelain veneers designed on a digital smile mock-up you approve before anything is touched, with in-chair whitening to match.
04Remote follow-upClear Aligners
A full aligner course planned in Shanghai and shipped to you as treatment progresses, with monthly video reviews so you only need to fly once.
05Root Canal Treatment
Microscope-assisted endodontics with rotary instrumentation and CBCT imaging, including retreatment of root canals that have failed elsewhere.
06Extractions & Wisdom Teeth
Routine extractions and surgical removal of impacted wisdom teeth, planned from a CBCT scan. Sedation is available if you would rather sleep through it.
WHAT EACH TREATMENT INVOLVES
Treatment Breakdown
Dental Implants
An implant replaces the root of a missing tooth, so the crown on top is supported by bone rather than by the teeth either side. Our partner hospitals plan every case from a CBCT scan and place the fixture through a printed surgical guide, which is what keeps the angle — and the final look — predictable.
- CBCT scan and 3D implant planning
- Straumann, Nobel Biocare or Osstem fixture
- Guided placement surgery under local anaesthetic
- Custom abutment and all-ceramic crown
- Bone graft or sinus lift quoted separately if needed
- Warranty card issued in English

Ceramic Crowns
A crown rebuilds a tooth that is cracked, heavily filled or has had a root canal. Partner hospitals scan the prepared tooth digitally and mill the crown on site, which removes the two-week laboratory wait that normally forces a second trip.
- Digital intraoral scan, no impression putty
- Full zirconia or lithium disilicate (e.max)
- Shade matched to your neighbouring teeth
- Temporary crown while the final one is milled
- Bite adjustment and polish before you fly
- Post and core quoted separately if required

Ceramic Veneers & Whitening
Veneers are thin porcelain facings bonded to the front of your teeth. Before anything is prepared you see a digital mock-up and a physical try-in, so the shape and shade are agreed while changes still cost nothing.
- Digital smile design you approve in advance
- Minimal-preparation feldspathic or e.max veneers
- Physical try-in before permanent bonding
- In-chair whitening of the remaining teeth
- Night guard included to protect the veneers
- Photographs of the result sent to your dentist at home

Clear Aligners
Aligners move your teeth in small increments using a series of transparent trays. The full course is planned from one scan in Shanghai, then the trays are couriered to you in batches, with a video review each month.
- Full-arch scan and 3D movement simulation
- Complete set of aligners for the whole course
- Attachments bonded before you fly home
- Trays shipped to your address in batches
- Monthly video review with your orthodontist
- Final retainers included

Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment removes infected tissue from inside the tooth and seals the canals so the tooth can be kept rather than extracted. Every case is done under a microscope, which matters most for molars and for retreating canals that have failed before.
- CBCT imaging to map the canal anatomy
- Microscope-assisted endodontics
- Rotary nickel-titanium instrumentation
- Rubber dam isolation on every case
- Retreatment of previously failed root canals
- Post-operative X-ray shared with you

Extractions & Wisdom Teeth
Impacted wisdom teeth sit at an angle under the gum and often need surgical removal rather than a simple extraction. The position of the nerve is checked on a CBCT scan first, which is the single most useful safeguard in this procedure.
- CBCT scan to map the nerve position
- Surgical removal of impacted teeth
- IV sedation available on request
- Prescriptions collected and explained in English
- Coordinator accompanies you back to the hotel
- Review appointment before you fly

THE QUESTIONS WE ACTUALLY GET
Dental FAQs
How can dental work in China be this much cheaper?
The materials and equipment cost roughly the same everywhere — an implant fixture is priced globally. What differs is clinic overheads, staff costs and, in the US in particular, insurance and administration. You are paying less for the building and the billing department, not for the implant.
Which implant brands do the hospitals use?
Straumann (Switzerland), Nobel Biocare (Sweden) and Osstem (Korea) are the three most commonly stocked. You choose the brand, you are told the price difference before you decide, and the batch number goes on your warranty card so any dentist in the world can service it later.
Will my dentist at home be able to follow up?
Yes. You leave with the full clinical record — scans, X-rays, the implant system and batch numbers, the ceramic used and the treatment notes, all in English. That is exactly what a dentist anywhere needs in order to adjust, repair or replace the work.
Does anyone at the hospital speak English?
Many of the specialists do, but we never rely on it. Your coordinator is in the consultation room and in the treatment room, interpreting both ways, and the written treatment plan is translated before you are asked to sign anything.
What if something goes wrong after I fly home?
Contact your coordinator first — that relationship does not end at the airport. Warranty work is carried out free of charge by the treating hospital if you return. If returning is impractical, we help provide the records and correspondence a local dentist needs.
How long do I need to stay in Shanghai?
Crowns, veneers, root canals and extractions generally fit into 5–7 days. Implants need two trips: about five days for placement, then five days for the crown once the bone has healed, usually four to six months later. Aligners need only one trip.
Do I need a visa, and can you help with it?
Many nationalities can enter Shanghai visa-free for short stays, and the rules change often. We check your passport at the consultation stage and, if a visa is needed, provide the hospital appointment confirmation and itinerary the application asks for.
When and how do I pay for the treatment itself?
At the hospital, after the examination and after you have accepted the written quote — by international card, bank transfer or a local payment app your coordinator will set up for you. Our coordination fee is the only thing you pay us, and it is paid in advance.
PATIENTS WHO MADE THE TRIP
What Our Clients Say
“I had been putting this off for three years because of the price at home. The quote in Shanghai was itemised, in English, and it did not move afterwards. Four implants, two crowns, two trips — still less than half of one quote in Seattle.”
Daniel M.
🇺🇸 Seattle, United States“Scanned on Monday, fitted on Thursday, home by the weekend. What made the difference was Lily, who sat in every appointment and translated the parts I would otherwise have just nodded along to.”
Claire H.
🇬🇧 Manchester, United Kingdom“I changed the shape twice at the try-in stage and nobody sighed at me. They only bonded them once I said yes. That is the part I tell people about — not the price.”
Sofia R.
🇦🇺 Melbourne, Australia“Two molars that I had been told at home would have to come out. The endodontist retreated both under a microscope and crowned them. Eighteen months on, no problems.”
Peter V.
🇨🇦 Toronto, Canada“One trip to Shanghai, then eleven months of trays arriving at my door with a video call each month. My orthodontist in Frankfurt had quoted four times as much for the same thing.”
