Aesthetic surgery in Shanghai
Board-Certified Surgeons. Accredited Hospitals. Somebody Beside You Throughout.
Body contouring, fat transfer, male chest surgery and hair restoration in Shanghai — with the surgeon vetted before you fly, the language handled, and the whole recovery looked after on the ground.
WHAT WE COORDINATE
Aesthetic Procedures
These are the procedures we coordinate at accredited Shanghai hospitals. Surgery is quoted by the hospital once a surgeon has reviewed your case and paid directly to them — the only figures we publish are our own coordination fees, in the packages further down.
01Most requestedLiposuction & Body Contouring
360° VASER or power-assisted liposuction across the abdomen, flanks, back and thighs, planned as one contour rather than a set of separate areas.
02Waist & Hip Fat Transfer
Your own fat, harvested during liposuction, purified and grafted to define the waist-to-hip line. No implants and no foreign material involved.
03DiscreetMale Chest Surgery
Correction of gynecomastia by liposuction of the chest, with direct excision of glandular tissue where it is present. Incisions sit at the areolar border.
04Facial Fat Transfer
Micro-fat and nanofat grafting to the temples, cheeks, tear troughs and jawline, using fat taken from your own abdomen or thighs.
05Hair Transplant
FUE or DHI extraction of 2,000–4,000 grafts in a single session, with the hairline drawn and agreed with you before a single follicle is taken.
06Other Related Procedures
Eyelid surgery, rhinoplasty, thread lifts, breast procedures, scar revision and non-surgical treatments — coordinated through the same vetted hospitals.
WHAT EACH PROCEDURE INVOLVES
Procedure Breakdown
Liposuction & Body Contouring
Liposuction removes fat; contouring decides where it should be removed from so the result still looks like you. Surgeons at our partner hospitals plan the abdomen, flanks, back and thighs as one silhouette in a single session, which is why a 360° approach usually looks more natural than treating one area at a time.
- Pre-operative bloods, ECG and anaesthetic review
- VASER or power-assisted liposuction, up to 5 areas
- Board-certified plastic surgeon and anaesthetist
- One night on the ward with nursing care
- Two compression garments included
- Six post-operative lymphatic drainage sessions
Waist & Hip Fat Transfer
Fat is harvested during liposuction of the waist and abdomen, spun down to remove fluid and oil, then grafted in fine layers to build the hip and buttock contour. Because it is your own tissue there is no implant, but expect the surgeon to be blunt about how much of the graft survives.
- Liposuction of the donor areas included
- Closed-system purification of the harvested fat
- Layered grafting above the muscle plane
- One to two nights inpatient
- Post-operative cushion and garments included
- Honest guidance on realistic retention
Male Chest Surgery
Gynecomastia is usually a mix of fat and firm glandular tissue, and the two need different treatment. Liposuction alone leaves the gland behind, which is the most common reason men are unhappy with a previous operation elsewhere. Ultrasound determines what you actually have before anything is booked.
- Ultrasound assessment of gland versus fat
- Chest liposuction with glandular excision
- Incision hidden at the areolar border
- Hormonal bloods checked before surgery
- Compression vest included
- Entirely discreet scheduling and recovery
Facial Fat Transfer
Ageing in the face is as much about lost volume as it is about loose skin. Grafting your own fat into the temples, mid-cheek, tear troughs and jawline restores that volume permanently, unlike filler — which is precisely why it needs to be done conservatively and in layers.
- Fat harvested from the abdomen or thighs
- Micro-fat and nanofat prepared separately
- Layered placement using blunt cannulas
- Deliberately conservative first pass
- Photographic review at three months
- Top-up session quoted separately if wanted
Hair Transplant
Follicles are taken one by one from the back of the scalp and placed along a hairline you have agreed in advance. The number of grafts matters less than the angle and density they are placed at, which is why we only work with hospitals where the surgeon — not a technician — makes the incisions.
- Trichoscopy and donor density assessment
- Hairline designed and agreed before extraction
- FUE or DHI, 2,000–4,000 grafts
- Incisions made by the surgeon personally
- First wash performed at the clinic
- Twelve months of remote follow-up
Other Related Procedures
The five procedures above are what we coordinate most often, but they are not the limit. If what you are considering is performed safely and routinely at an accredited Shanghai hospital, we will match you to the right specialist — and if it is not, we will tell you that instead.
- Upper and lower eyelid surgery
- Rhinoplasty and revision rhinoplasty
- Breast augmentation, reduction and lift
- Thread lifts and skin tightening
- Scar revision and post-surgical correction
- Injectables, lasers and skin programmes
BEFORE WE SEND ANYONE ANYWHERE
How We Vet a Surgeon
Aesthetic surgery is the part of medical travel that goes wrong most often, and almost always for the same reason: the wrong surgeon in the wrong facility. This is the four-point check every hospital and surgeon on our list has to pass before we will introduce you.
Licence and specialty verified
We check the surgeon's registration with the Chinese health authority and confirm plastic surgery is their registered specialty — not a sideline.
Hospital, not a storefront
Surgery happens in a licensed hospital with a certified operating theatre, a dedicated anaesthetist and an inpatient ward — never in a day salon.
Volume in your procedure
We ask how many of your specific operation the surgeon performs each year. A brilliant rhinoplasty surgeon is not automatically the right choice for body contouring.
Complication and revision policy
Before we list a hospital we agree in writing what happens if there is a complication, who pays for revision, and how long that promise lasts.
THE PART NOBODY EXPLAINS PROPERLY
Your Recovery, Week by Week
Based on a typical 360° liposuction and fat transfer case. Timings shift with the procedure and with your own healing — your surgeon will give you the version that applies to you. Click through the stages below.
You stay in hospital, and you are not alone
The first forty-eight hours are the ones people worry about most. You are on the ward with nursing care, your compression garment is already on, and your coordinator is there for the ward rounds so nothing is explained to you in a language you do not speak.
- Coordinator present for every ward round and translation
- Pain relief adjusted by the ward team, not left to you
- First assisted walk within hours, to reduce clot risk
- A message sent to your family at home on your behalf
Home to your apartment, with a nurse coming to you
You move into a serviced apartment near the hospital. Swelling and bruising peak around day three or four — this is the point at which people panic, and it is also the point at which having someone experienced checking on you daily matters most.
- Daily nurse visit for dressings and drain care
- First lymphatic drainage sessions begin
- Meals delivered, prescriptions collected for you
- Surgeon review appointment on day five or six
Out and about, gently
Bruising fades and the swelling starts to come down. Most clients are comfortable walking around the neighbourhood, eating out and doing light sightseeing — with the compression garment still on underneath, which nobody can see.
- Drainage sessions continue two to three times a week
- Gentle itinerary planned around how you actually feel
- Stitches removed or checked at the hospital
- Coordinator on call, but you are mostly independent
Final review, then home
Your surgeon signs off on flying, which for body work is usually around day fourteen to twenty-one. You leave with your operative notes, medication list and garment schedule in English, and with a follow-up plan that runs for the next twelve months.
- Written fit-to-fly clearance from your surgeon
- Full operative record and photographs handed over
- Compression schedule for the coming weeks explained
- Airport transfer and assistance with luggage
Back to the gym, and back to normal
By the second month most people are back to full exercise. Residual swelling is still settling, so the shape you see now is not the final one — which is exactly why we schedule a review rather than leaving you to wonder.
- Video review with your surgeon at week six
- Guidance on returning to training safely
- Scar care routine set up and monitored
- Coordinator still your single point of contact
What you actually came for
Swelling has fully resolved and, for fat transfer, the grafted tissue that survived is now permanent. This is the point at which the result is judged — and if anything genuinely needs revising, this is when that conversation happens.
- Six-month photographic review with your surgeon
- Revision policy applied honestly if it is warranted
- Records kept on file should you ever need them
- You keep the same coordinator for any future trip

WHERE YOUR SURGERY HAPPENS
A licensed hospital.
Never a day salon.
Every procedure we coordinate takes place in a licensed hospital with a certified theatre, a dedicated anaesthetist and an inpatient ward. That single requirement rules out most of the clinics advertising to you online.

How Your Trip Works
Aesthetic cases are booked further ahead than dental ones, because the pre-operative checks and the recovery window both need room. Here is the shape of it.
Free consultation
You send photos and your history. A plastic surgeon reviews them and tells you honestly what is achievable.
Surgeon matched
You are given named surgeons with their credentials and case volume, and a written hospital quote for each.
Fitness checks
Bloods and any imaging done at home and reviewed by the anaesthetist before your date is confirmed.
Arrival & in-person consult
Met at the airport, settled in, then a face-to-face consultation two days before surgery. Plans can still change here.
Surgery & ward
Your coordinator is with you until you go under, and there when you wake up. Inpatient nights as your surgeon requires.
Recovery & follow-up
Supported recovery in Shanghai, fit-to-fly clearance, then twelve months of remote follow-up once you are home.
WHERE YOU STAND WITH US
Our Guarantee
A named, verified surgeon
You are told who will operate on you, with their licence and specialty confirmed, before you are asked to commit to anything.
A fixed quote before surgery
An itemised quote in English covering surgeon, anaesthetist, theatre and inpatient nights. If the plan changes, you are asked again.
You pay the hospital directly
Surgical fees go from you to the hospital. We never handle, mark up or take a commission on your medical costs.
We will tell you no
If a surgeon judges you an unsuitable candidate, or the request is unrealistic, we say so and refund the coordination fee in full.
Complete discretion
Your photographs and records are shared only with the surgeons you approve, and are never used in any marketing material.
Someone reachable at 2am
An English-speaking emergency number for your whole stay, answered by a person in Shanghai who can get you back to the hospital.
THE QUESTIONS WE ACTUALLY GET
Aesthetic FAQs
How do I know the surgeon is genuinely qualified?
You are given the surgeon's name, registration details, hospital privileges and how many of your specific procedure they perform each year — before you book. If a provider will not give you those four things, anywhere in the world, that is your answer.
How long do I really need to stay in Shanghai?
Hair transplant around seven days. Male chest surgery about ten. Facial fat transfer twelve. Body contouring and fat transfer fourteen to twenty-one days, because flying too early after body work carries a real clot risk. We build every quote around the full recommended stay.
What happens if there is a complication?
While you are in Shanghai you go straight back to the operating hospital, and your coordinator takes you there — day or night. We agree the revision and complication policy with every hospital in writing before we list them.
Can you guarantee the result?
No, and neither can any honest surgeon. We can guarantee the credentials, the facility, the written quote, the coordination and the follow-up. The clinical result depends on the procedure, your anatomy and healing.
Can I combine more than one procedure in a trip?
Often, and it usually saves both money and recovery time. But the decision belongs to the surgeon and the anaesthetist, based on total operating time and your fitness — not on what would be convenient. If they say two sessions, we plan two sessions.
Will anybody know I have had something done?
Only the people you choose to tell. Bookings are made in your name with the hospital and nowhere else, correspondence goes to whichever address you nominate, and your photographs never appear anywhere.
Can somebody travel with me?
Yes, and for body surgery we recommend it. On the Recovery Concierge and Private VIP packages we arrange your companion's accommodation and transfers at no additional coordination fee — they only pay their own flights and room.
What follow-up do I get once I am home?
A video review with your surgeon at six weeks and again at six months, a scar-care routine that is actually monitored, and your coordinator remaining your point of contact for twelve months. You also leave with the full operative record.
CLIENTS WHO MADE THE TRIP
What Our Clients Say
“What sold me was the pre-op call. The surgeon told me one of the areas I had asked about would not improve the result and took it off the plan — that cost him money and bought my trust.”
Rebecca A.
🇺🇸 Austin, United States“Nobody promised me a percentage. They showed me the realistic range, explained why it varies so much, and booked me for eighteen days rather than the ten I had planned.”
Nadia S.
🇬🇧 London, United Kingdom“I had this done at home four years ago and it came back, because they only did liposuction. Here they scanned it first and removed the gland. Completely different result, at a third of the price.”
Tom W.
🇦🇺 Brisbane, Australia“Three thousand grafts in one long day, and a coordinator who sat with me through the whole thing. Nine months on it looks like hair, not like a transplant.”
Erik J.
🇳🇱 Rotterdam, Netherlands“Day four was miserable and I nearly panicked. The nurse came, checked everything, told me it was exactly on schedule and sat with me for an hour. That is what I paid for.”
